The City of Nicholasville is currently accepting applications for the following positions:

Planning and Zoning Administrative Specialist

The City of Nicholasville Human Resources Department will accept applications to fill the position in Planning and Zoning for Administrative Specialist, grade 55, Pay scale $23.80 – $30.90 Final hiring rate determined during final step of interview process.

Under general direction, performs secretarial and clerical duties; prepares reports and records for Planning and Zoning activities and City Commission meetings; maintains financial records of the department; serves as receptionist; receives and processes new applications; performs related duties as required.

Applicant must have a high school degree or GED. A minimum of two (2) years in office setting is preferred. Experience in planning and Zoning is desirable. (See job description for knowledge, skill and abilities requirements).

Tax Clerk

Do you have an aptitude for numbers and working with people? If so, keep reading, we are looking for a detail-oriented person to train for this vital role. Grade 53, grade scale $20.60 – $26.75.

Under general direction, assists with applying tax laws, rules, and regulations related to the City; supports the administration and enforcement of city property taxes, occupational taxes, licensing fees, and other City revenues; exercises strong attention to detail and accuracy; communicates effectively in writing and orally; performs other work as required.

Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED). Demonstrated ability to exercise analytical skills and strong attention to detail and accuracy. This position requires handling confidential City funds and finances; therefore, applicant must not possess a criminal conviction for theft or crimes against persons. Deputy Fire Prevention /Education Chief (Marshal)

The City of Nicholasville is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Fire Prevention /Education Chief (Marshal) hourly pay scale $43.52 – $54.41. a 40 hour work week exempt position

Requires thorough knowledge and experience in fire hazard inspections. Under general supervision of the Fire Chief plans, organizes, coordinates, directs, and participates in the fire prevention program; Oversees the public fire safety education program and fire code enforcement activities of the fire department. The position requires a high degree of public contact and participation in fire suppression and fire prevention activities of the department; Reports to the Fire Chief as part of his/her executive staff; performs related duties as required.

Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED) supplemented by some post-secondary education. Must have minimum 10 years of experience as a career firefighter recognized by the Kentucky Fire Commission, including a minimum of 2 years at the rank of Lieutenant or above in a career fire department.
