Planning and Zoning Director
The City of Nicholasville Human Resources Department will accept applications to fill the position of Director Dept of Planning and Zoning, grade 40, grade scale range per hour min $ 32.49- max $ 58.48. Final hiring rate determined during final step of interview process.

Under general administrative direction is responsible for the planning, development, coordinating and management of the activities of the department: develops formation, installation, modification and improvement of The Comprehensive Plan and specialized plans for the physical development of the City; develops goals and objectives for the department; supervises staff activities, coordinates personnel efforts; formulates, updates and administers the Comprehensive Plan, building codes, condemnation codes, subdivision regulations, flood regulations, and zoning ordinances: provides professional and technical advice to the Department, Mayor, City Commission, Planning Commission, Board of Adjustments and other City departments; performs related work as required.

Applicants must have a Bachelors degree in urban planning, public administration, or closely related field from an accredited college or university supplemented by five (5) years work experience in administrative and supervisory experience and urban planning or closely related field. Preference given to Master Degree in Urban Planning.

Applicants must be neat in appearance, high moral character, and not convicted of a felony crime; must be able to attend meetings after normal working hours on a regular basis.

Must poses and maintain a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a condition of continued employment in the position.

Senior Water Plant Operator

The City of Nicholasville Human Resources Department is accepting applications for the position of Senior Water Plant Operator, 2nd or 3rd shift, grade 27, pay range min $17.23 to mid point $22.97, final hiring rate determined during final step of interview process. Duties include assisting in daily operation and maintenance of the Water Plant, including collections and treatment of water; related work as required. Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) supplemented by work experience and/or education acceptable by the Kentucky Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet to have received Class IVA Water Plant Operator License. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Ky. Must maintain a Class IVA Water Treatment Plant Operators License issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Water Plant Operator

FIREFIGHTER / EMT RECRUIT

The Nicholasville Fire Department accepts applications year round for this position.

The Nicholasville Fire Department accepts applications year round however for this hiring cycle applications must be submitted by 4:00 PM April 30, 2021.
Position Requirements:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License (from current state of residence)
  • Current CPAT card if applicable ( out of state applicants or those not currently working for a career department)
