Planning and Zoning Director


The City of Nicholasville Human Resources Department will accept applications to fill the position of Director Dept of Planning and Zoning, grade 40, rate range per hour min $ 31.24- max over time $ 56.23. Final hiring rate determined during final step of interview process. It is the responsibility of each interested employee to ask any questions they may have regarding all aspects of this posting to the Human Resource Office prior to end date of this posting. Under general administrative direction is responsible for the planning, development, coordinating and management of the activities of the department: develops formation, installation, modification and improvement of The Comprehensive Plan and specialized plans for the physical development of the City; develops goals and objectives for the department; supervises staff activities, coordinates personnel efforts; formulates, updates and administers The comprehensive Plan, building codes, condemnation codes, subdivision regulations, flood regulations, and zoning ordinances: provides professional and technical advise to the Department, Mayor, City Commission, Planning Commission, Board of Adjustments and other City departments; performs related work as required. Applicants must have a Bachelors degree in urban planning, public administration, or closely related filed from an accredited college or university supplemented by five (5) years work experience in administrative and supervisory experience and urban planning or closely relate field. Preference given to Master Degree in Urban Planning. Applicants must be neat in appearance, high moral character, and not convicted of a felony crime; must be able to attend meetings after normal working hours on a regular basis. Must posses and maintain a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a condition of continued employment in the position. Water Distribution Wastewater Collections Operator Trainee


The City of Nicholasville Human Resources Department is accepting applications for the position of Water Distribution, Wastewater Collections Operator Trainee, grade 19, pay range min $11.21 to max over time $18.69, with opportunity for advancement as certifications are acquired. Duties include, not limited to, performing semi skilled and manual labor work in the construction, maintenance and cleanliness of the water distributions and wastewater collection systems. Applicants must have a high school degree or GED. No work experience requirements; however must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Must possess CDL issued by the Commonwealth of Ky or must optain CDL within one year after appointment to the position. Must obtain appropriate Water Distribution/Wastewater Collections certification within 18 months after meeting experience requirements. Applications may be picked up at City Hall, 517 N. Water Plant Operator Trainee


The City of Nicholasville Human Resources Department is accepting applications for the position of Water Plant Operator Trainee, 2nd or 3rd shift, grade 19, pay range min $11.21 to max over time $18.69. Duties include assisting in daily operation and maintenance of the Water Plant, including collections and treatment of water; related work as required. Must have a high school degree or GED and must obtain Class IVA Water Treatment Plant Operators License within 18 months after meeting experience requirements. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Ky. FIREFIGHTER / EMT RECRUIT

The Nicholasville Fire Department accepts applications year round for this position.

Position Requirements:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License (from current state of residence)
  • Current CPAT card if applicable ( out of state applicants or those not currently working for a career department)
